• Always use new boxes. We know it's convenient to head to the local grocery store and ask for their old boxes, but when you move and if you're moving things you don't want damaged during the trip, go with new boxes. Check the certification stamp on the bottom to make certain your box is certified to handle the weight of the items you intend to put inside.
• Use bubble wrap, foam, paper, sealed air or other padding to provide at least 2 inches on all sides on your items as well as between items.
• Distribute the weight evenly inside the box.
